We are a fully self-supporting 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The ability to pay is not a consideration for care. The Lantern relies on donations and community support to assure no one will be turned away due to financial issues. Everyone treated is dealt with upon an individual basis. Although every resident shares the same disease when it comes to addiction, we realize that every individual has their particular focus area that needs to be addressed. Residents are treated with the utmost compassion and care rather than being regarded as just another number or statistic.

Residential care at the Lantern provides an effective solution for men that suffer from the disease of drug and alcohol addiction. We offer our residents a recovery experience based on a 12-step model. The Lantern does not formally apply the evidence based approach know as Twelve Step Facilitation Therapy (TSF). However, our program uses the TSF model as a guide to educate our residents through daily group therapy sessions, and is designed to foster a lasting connection with the local recovery community through significant engagement with Alcoholics Anonymous.

Phase I

Our PHASE 1 program incorporates a 12-step model offering new residents a structured program involving significant engagement with Alcoholics Anonymous. This engagement is designed to foster a lasting connection with the recovery community and promote long-term abstinence-based sobriety. Our 90-day PHASE 1 program includes 5 group therapy sessions a day facilitated by 22 different volunteer moderators. Our group therapy sessions are at the core of our program and the Lantern typically provides over 1056 group recovery sessions a year.

New residents will work with our director, Tony Parker, to develop an individualized recovery program that is specific their particular focus areas. Phase 1 programs will include 5 group recovery sessions a day, 1 outside/offsite AA meeting a day, AA sponsorship, peer mentoring, random drug screens, offsite volunteer hours and bi-monthly program updates/evaluations with the executive director.

Phase II

Once a resident completes their PHASE 1 program they may transition into our PHASE 2 transitional living program. PHASE 2 residents are required to establish full-time employment (or equivalent schooling or training), pay $400.00 a month in rent, submit to random drug screens, maintain a consistent AA meeting schedule, attend monthly evaluation meeting with our Residential Adviser, attend “Lantern Unplugged” alumni meeting and attend 2 group daily recovery sessions at the Lantern as their schedule permits.
